This is an interesting ash tray shape 2997. This shape ash tray isn’t particularly unusual but to find one in Plum Jade is most unusual. The handle is reported to be Mirror Black but I suspect if it were Amethyst it would be difficult to tell the difference.

From Paul Gardner’s, The Glass of Frederick Carder @ p. 84. “Three layers of glass were sometimes used, as in Plum Jade color, which has a Dark Amethyst layer case with Alabaster and then the two encased with an outer layer of amethyst.

“To produce cased objects, the two or more glasses used must have the same coefficient of expansion in order to ‘work together.’ Carder worked out the glass formulas scientifically to make them compatible. Even though the the batch formulas were theoretically correct, it was always necessary to make practical tests in the laboratory before the actual pieces were fabricated in the blowing room. This was done by ‘pull tests,’….”
