Issue 414

First, next year’s Symposium is Oct. 2-3, 2009. You may want to post that on
your calendar. A little later date than usual, but due to conflicts of booking
dates available at the CMoG auditorium. Did you know CMoG books about 400
events per year at the auditorium?
To reserve our space for future years we have also tentatively booked the
following two years.

Sept. 24-25 2010
Sept. 16-17 2011.

One of the major issues for the uninitiated is to have a means to try and
ascertain what they have or are looking at is a piece of Carder Steuben. Our
website helps www.cardersteubenclub.com However, without knowing a shape
number to start with it is a difficult task. We learned that perhaps 10-12
people per week write in with a picture and request for help with identification.
While it has its limitations, in many cases the webmaster can identify what the
piece is or provide some help and is doing so. However, this takes place without
any offer to help posted on the website. To try and encourage this type of
identification, and therefore greater reassurance, the webmaster, Mark Buffa,
said he would put something on the website to indicate we are open to assist in
this regard. This should be a great addition and confidence builder to the
collecting public.
