S MARKS THE SPOT
Thursday’s Gazette #1668 had some commentary from Al Bradtke about finding marks on modern Steuben. Beth Shaut of the Carder Steuben Glass Shop in Corning adds the following:
“For a time period the dinner pieces were only marked with the letter ‘S’ and it will look like a scratch rather than a letter.”

Shape 6837 is an Alabaster acid etched vase that is 16.25 inches high. The photo doesn’t allow us to determine the etched pattern. This shape is not very common and apparently was made without a foot so that it could be used with a metal mount.
