WHAT’S NEW IN THE SHAPE GALLERY?

Some new things are coming to our online Shape Gallery!  Scott Coots, our webmaster, is adding new Steuben examples to the CSGA website. In support of our mission “To encourage and promote the collecting and enjoyment of Steuben glass developed by Frederick Carder and produced during the period from 1903 through 1933, and post-Carder or modern Steuben glass beginning in 1933,” we are extending the online shape gallery to include “modern” or post-Carder era pieces.

To view the modern era pieces in the database, navigate to the Shape Gallery and click on the “Advanced Search Options” link to expand the menu.  Clicking the check box for “Show Modern Steuben Attributes” will open an additional set of menu choices that pertain to the modern era pieces.

This is a monumental effort as there are a lot of new designs and examples to be added, and the process will take some time to develop a large database. You can view the progress by visiting the CSGA website and clicking on “Recent Additions” to enjoy the latest beautiful pieces.  Just as we did with the Carder-era examples, we welcome input and contributions from our glass community as a way to build the knowledge base for all.  We invite you to send photos of any items you may have that are not yet documented.

Below are a few examples from the database.  The pieces shown are from Robert Cassetti and David Dowler, two Steuben designers who have given excellent presentations at our Symposiums.
