Issue 375
For those who haven’t yet signed up and sent in your check for membership in
the Carder Steuben Club yet, attached is the membership form. If you’ve
procrastinated, please attend to it now. A broad and diverse membership in the
Carder Steuben Club is important to preserve and encourage the heritage of
Frederick Carder. If you haven’t already just take a look at the Club website to
see the work that is being done for this purpose. www.cardersteubenclub.com
Not only that, but in addition to our Club membership you also automatically get
without additional cost an associate membership in the Corning Museum of Glass.
They provide you their quarterly magazine, reciprocal museum benefits,
discounts from their gift shop which can be accessed on the web, and of course
free admission to the museum. For a $35/yr membership or $55 for a family,
you just can’t get a better deal.
See attached save the date post card. The cameo glass image on the card,
called an “Elephant Vase” is the work of a young 23 year old, Frederick Carder.
This is part of the collection of designs of Mr. Carder housed at the Rakow
Library in the Corning Museum of Glass. At the Symposium the staff of the
Rakow will be sharing a number of Mr. Carder’s design drawings. Seldom seen,
much to be desired and enjoyed.
