A Year or Two
From Western Collector, Volume V, Number 1, January, 1967 at p. 7 in an article entitled “Steuben” by Donna L. Arnold
“From a production sense, Steuben items were rarely marketed for more than a year or two; however once a form had been decided on as being pleasing to the eye and worthy of production, it carried the same factory number from that point on. It made no difference in what size the object was produced, or in what type of glass-as long as the shape was the same, it carried one number. For this reason we find miniature vases as well as 12 -inch vases carrying the same number and being produced in a number of colors and types of glass. In the 1932 catalog, for example, the very popular urn vase No. 2683 is listed in the 6 1/2″, 8 1/2″, 10 1/2″ and 12″ sizes in Ivory, Jade Green, Alabaster and Black, White Cluthra, Green Cluthra, Rose Cluthra, Amethyst Cluthra, Blue Cluthra, Gold Aurene, Blue Aurene and a number of acid cut-back combinations.”
