LAMP SHADE QUESTION

I recently had a question about learning more about shades. ” do you know how or where I can learn more about Steuben glass shades? Thank you for your help!”

I’m aware of the text “Collecting Art Nouveau Shades” by Darrah L. Roberts. My edition is dated in 1972. I know there were multiple editions. At p. 10 the author says, When all aspects of fine glass are considered, we must conclude that there is none finer than that made by Steuben.

Any additional thoughts or suggestions to respond to this inquiry?

GLASS ON VIEW AT CMoG DURING SYMPOSIUM

On June 23, 1972 Corning and its CMoG Museum was devastated by a major flood. At the Museum hundreds of objects were broken and more than half of its library was saturated with flood water. The exhibit chronicles the efforts to rebuild and the unique conservation techniques that were used to restore glass and library materials.

2013 Carder Steuben Club annual Symposium will be held at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY from September 19-21, 2013. The festivities will begin with Frederick Carder’s 150th birthday celebration on the evening of September 18, 2013.
