I’ll be there for sure,

Sam Kissée, Chico, California

Then on to Tommy Dreiling’s question of why some Steuben is now made in Germany

First, from Beth Shaut

As to why the stemware is being made in Germany is due to the designer of stemware is there and cost effectiveness. They have been doing it there for some time and finishing them here.

The more cynical view from John Styler of Prospect Heights, Illinois

Tommy, could it possibly be because of the Local 1000 United Steel Workers Unions here in the U. S.?

When Schottenstein took over Steuben he assured the world in July, 2008 that the manufacturing would remain in Corning. In April, 2009, 20 union employees were let go and a German manufacturer was making some of the Steuben glassware. It can now be mass produced at half the price, a technology not available in Corning.
