Gwen Stebbins asked what this piece of Tiffany was used for.

Norman Skolnick says I would say it is a bowl in need of a flower frog badly.

Helaine Fendelman of New York City responds Alan. I believe this is a ring insert for a rather tall vase because I have seen this type of item in crystal vases of the same period

Hi Gwen,

It’s your old customer Frank Ford (and I do mean old).

I think this piece is a “flower floater”……..you put rose petals or small flower heads in water to float. My mother had a cut glass one.

Jeanie Quirk of Sudbury, Massachusetts adds

Hi Alan! I have a lot of Tiffany books and not one like this. Sorry. I will keep looking if I find out will let you know. Looks like a single flower holder but…..

Wish I could be more help. Jeanie

In reply to Gwen Stebbins,

It may have had a “frog” in the opening to hold flowers. What is the diam. of the bowl? Linda Feuer

Alan, I think a flower frog goes in the center.

Dick Stark of Bethesda, Maryland notes

I had insert for sauce
