I would like to suggest the New Bedford Museum of Glass as a possible “good fit” for the glass animal figure bottles mentioned in your Gazette.

We are working to develop an extensive permanent collection of glass animals covering all categories and periods, from ancient to contemporary. Represented so far are Baccarat, Lalique, Val St. Lambert, Waterford, Kosta Boda, Sabino, Daum, Heisey, Seguso, etc., etc. Oh yes, and also Steuben! Earlier this year we displayed part of the collection at the Newton Free Library outside Boston, where it was very favorably received. Library Director of Programs Ellen Meyers wrote the following: “In my ten years
of coordinating the displays for our Main Hall, which rotate on a monthly basis, this has been among the most popular! Every day countless families have stopped by to enjoy the colorful glass animals, take time
to name them and generally appreciate the beauty and variety of pieces.”

The figure bottles would compliment our growing collection very nicely, and would help us toward our goal of representing the wonderful genre of glass animal art and design on a grand scale.

Twelve inch candlesticks, #686, go well with a twelve inch bowl, #2851. I purchased the candlesticks because they did not seem to be light enough for topaz. Perhaps they are Russian amber, which then gets us back to the discussion of what is amber, and what is topaz? If a lighter version of the candlesticks is also amber, then so is the bowl.
