We are excited to share news of a new exhibition opening at the Corning Museum of Glass. Local Color: Secrets of Steuben is a joint exhibition from the CMoG curatorial staff and the 2023 class of Junior Curators. Assistant Curator Amy Hughes will speak about designing the exhibition and the discoveries Local Color brought to light. Then, get the perspective of today’s teens in the Junior Curator program as they discuss their experience in the program and creating their chapter of the exhibition. The free event opening will take place on June 21, 2023.
The Advancement Team at CMoG personally invited the CSGA to attend this opening event. If you are lucky enough to live near Corning and can join the event in person, you may start with the CMoG reception (for CMoG members at Donor level and above) at 5:30pm followed by a lecture and roundtable discussion beginning at 6:30pm. Please RSVP by June 14 to attend in person using this link: https://www.cmog.org/SteubenCBG
If you cannot attend in person there is a virtual option to join remotely. Please RSVP for the Zoom event here. Note that you must register using this link prior to the event in order to receive the connection details.
I hope many of you can join and that we have a good showing! It will be interesting to see the exhibit and see what the Junior Curators think of Steuben glass.
Our next member Zoom Meeting will take place on Sunday, June 25th from 4:00 – 6:00pm EDT. Please plan to join us for a fun discussion of glass and sharing with your fellow CSGA members. We’ll discuss the Secrets of Steuben opening, and maybe share some pieces similar to ones included in the exhibition! Meeting details will be emailed to CSGA members on Thursday before the event.
