Presentation Piece
Leigh Alan Demrow of Janesville, Wisconsin sends this along: “Alan, I thought the members would like to see this vase sold at James D. Julia on June 20, 2013 for $13,035.00.”
The James D. Julia press release for this vase, created by Frederick Carder while at Stevens and Williams in England, for presentation to his boss and infamous glassmaker, John Northwood reads:
“An outstanding English dichroic glass vase that has two distinct colors when shown in normal light and when it is illuminated is another unique piece. Further enhanced by gorgeous silver overlay engraved for John Northwood as a gift from Frederic Carder, it combined two of the most renowned names in the art glass world. This phenomenal piece sold just above its $8,000-12,000 estimate for $13,055.”
2014 Carder Steuben Club annual Symposium will be held at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY September 19 and 20, 2014. The festivities will begin with Frederick Carder’s 151st birthday celebration on the evening of Thursday, September 18, 2014.
