There is a wealth of surprising Carder history tucked away at the Rakow library
at CMoG. For our last Symposium the library staff suggested a research
project, which Ed Bush then investigated and presented a program on it.
It was Mr. Carder’s correspondence with J. Stanley Brothers from 1943 through
1963. It’s fascinating to see how Mr. Carder corresponds. The strength of his
penmanship and mind at age 100. Attached you’ll find Ed Bush’s presentation
and copies of the background correspondence. It’s a bit long, but even if you
don’t read it all, it is fun to see some of the correspondence. Also, a shortcut is
just reading Ed’s summaries.
Someone else might want to take up a theme of research with the Rakow seeing
what can be done.
