Ivrene Exhibit

A translucent white glass of exceptional soft, mellow, eye impact, Ivrene is definitely not harsh to view. It first achieved prominence as a glass used in the manufacture of lighting fixtures. The purest expressions of item simplicity are found in the light shades.

Ivrene is a transition-period glass. Even though the exact date of manufacture is obscure, the styling indicates the bridge between the pre-World War I flair for ruffles, ribbing and elaborateness, and the post-World War I period wherein a return to simpler forms was in order.

Reeding can be found on certain of these items as well as copper wheel engraving, or the application of modest trim in a contrasting color, such as celeste blue. Ivrene can be cased in clear crystal, as well as treated with a very delicate and subtle iridization similar to Verre d’Soie,..
