Mastering Modernity: The Interwoven Legacies of Walter Dorwin Teague and Sidney Waugh at Steuben Glass by Cynthia Williams, Professor, Project Director Rensselaer, NY

This scholarly, information-packed presentation explained how the robust decorative arts movement centered in France moved across the Atlantic all the way to Corning, New York.

Frederic Carder was an American delegate to the 1925 Paris Exposition and was influenced
by what he saw. The story of how Teague, a pioneer in industrial design, and Waugh, a sculptor of monuments large and small, became involved in designing Steuben art glass is a fascinating one.
