David Goldstein of Naples, Florida tells us his Rouge Flambé story
I am fortunate enough to have owned four 8″ Rouge Flambé plates that were perfect and one 10″ Rouge Flambé plate that was also perfect. The 8″ plates were part of a set of twelve, but I could only afford two of them at the time. I have no idea what happened to the rest of the set.
The 10″ plate is the one with a story. When I purchased it the seller had no idea what it was but I thought it was Rouge. Unfortunately, there was no documentation that showed that Rouge plates were made in a 10″ size so it was hard to prove that the plate was in fact Rouge Flambé. I kept it for several years until I found an old Steuben ad showing a large (10″) Rouge Flambé plate being used as service plate under another 8″ Steuben plate. I was now able to document the fact that Steuben made 10″ Rouge Flambé plates, and I sold the plate shortly thereafter.
Now if I could only get them all back……
