Duncan & Miller
Like many of our Club’s members, Gerry Getman collects more than just Carder Steuben glass. Gerry is an aficionado of Duncan & Miller, a well-known glass manufacturing company in Washington, Pennsylvania. Duncan & Miller was a contemporary of Steuben Glass Works, and has a long history.
Gerry will provide a brief history of the early glass industry in Pittsburgh, and will focus on Duncan & Miller’s glassware that spans 113 years, including blown, etched and pressed glass in colorless and color varieties. Various patterns from the collections of Tom Cooper, Kathy Roth, and Gerry himself will be discussed and displayed. There will be a hands-on component to this program, and by that we mean, you can see glass pieces in person.
Gerry’s presentation is entitled, “Duncan & Miller: Pioneers in Early Flint, Blown and Pressed Glassware, 1874 – 1955”
