Group rates are available 2 days prior and 2 days after the Symposium, so make plans to attend Carder’s 150th Birthday Banquet hosted by Tom and Peetie Dimitroff on Wednesday, September 18, and stay after the Symposium to enjoy the beautiful Finger Lakes area! The Banquet is held at the Corning Country Club. Invitations will follow.

IT’S ART

Greetings Alan – What a gracious description of my collection and its environment you composed in the Gazette. You really understood my perspective about collecting and living with a collection. To me this is a symbiotic relationship. Home is not a shop or a museum. Rather, it is a personal place that reflects who I am; where the contents were chosen because this is how I like to live. Collecting Carder Steuben has been a pleasure and seeing the pieces displayed in my home is a constant reminder of that pleasure. Thank you for letting me share the pleasure with you and Susan.

RAILROAD LANTERNS

Hello Bobby Rockwell,

Wow, that’s a lot of good information, thank you. I know that you had/have a large collection of the RR Lanterns. The lantern that I sent to Randy came directly from UP Railroad, here in Omaha, when they moved their headquarters to the new building about ten years ago.

My friend was an employee at UP and these items were offered to them. This gave me reason to think it is correct and original but you are the expert here.

2013 Carder Steuben Club annual Symposium will be held at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY from September 19-21, 2013. The festivities will begin with Frederick Carder’s 150th birthday celebration on the evening of September 18, 2013.
