HOORAY, HOORAY! (Rakow Award)

Jan 12, 2010
Issue 774

Last year Marshall Ketchum and Scott Hansen became aware of several boxes of photos at the Rakow Library that due to costs limitations hadn’t been indexed, reviewed or catalogued and that were in danger of disintegration. Marshall & Scott moved into action and proposed to the staff of the Rakow that they would on behalf of the Carder Steuben Club review these images, scan them and catalogue them. Now those images can be found through the CMoG website. Some of the images disclose new Carder discoveries. As a result The Rakow has now received an award for this collaborative effort. Regan Brumagen at The Rakow Library reports:

I’m so happy to pass along the news that the Carder-Steuben Photo Project did indeed win a national award from the ALCTS, a division of the American Library Association. I’m providing a copy of the award letter, in case you are interested. I want to thank you again for helping us put this nomination package together, as well as for your generosity in initiating this project. Hope all of you are enjoying a good new year, so far! Regan
