Rande Bly of Birmingham, Alabama continues our discussions and focus on Mr. Carder creating “some of the worlds most beautiful glass ever”.
I find it fascinating the beauty of the curves and the gracefulness of the lines that Mr. Carder created in his glass. It is like he mentally gathered all this art from all around the world both classical and contemporary and by adding one big swirl of genius produced some of the worlds most beautiful glass ever. I often wonder what beautiful pieces from around the world Mr. Carder would have seen. I like the way he expressed himself with his Venetian Glass. I would like to show a classic piece of Venetian glass typical to the time period similar to what Mr. Carder would have been seeing and developing his ideas from. I would also like to show a piece of his Carder Steuben Venetian. The piece is a Carder Steuben Venetian Amber Decanter with Flemish Blue Crown Stopper and decorations.
In the piece of Amethyst Italian Venetian you will see glass techniques that he incorporated into his Venetian line. I feel these two pieces show how Mr. Carder used art from around the world in his pieces.
