Issue 922
First, you’ll be seeing more content, or search terms in the “Subject” line of future Gazette’s. Why, you ask? Well, the Carder Steuben Club is working to make their web site searchable. So, in the future Gazette’s will be available on line and will be searchable by the subject line. Much more importantly, Carder’s glass will be searchable. By type of glass, color, form and much, much more. I know it’s being worked on and will be an exciting step forward when completed.
Lisa Ackerman of Orange, California sends this item along about Corning, Inc. Inasmuch as Corning is the “seat” of Steuben and the world’s greatest glass museum, The Corning Museum of Glass (with major funding from Corning, Inc.), and all the coincidental expertise that follows, she thought this item might be of interest.
Even though this has NOTHING to do with Carder Steuben, I thought you might like to read this short article on Gorilla Glass, one of Corning Inc.’s latest success stories. I’m always happy when I hear of the financial health of the company, as I know the health of the town is closely tied to it.

The article my friend gave me was much longer, but this gives you the idea. It speaks of Corning’s patience in waiting for a market to develop for some of its inventions. In that way, I guess, it does speak of Carder’s tenacity!
Speaking of The Corning Museum (“CMoG”), during the Symposium you’ll have a chance to attend Family Night:
During the Symposium on Friday night, September 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the Corning Museum of Glass will be hosting Family Night. The Symposium program has deliberately left open the Symposium schedule that night so that everyone attending the Symposium can participate. More information is available at www.cmog.org. Click on “Full Calendar” in the lower right, then click “Family-Friendly Activities” in the upper right and scroll to September 24 and click on “Family Night” for a full description of the evening.
