Gorgeous Steuben Glass

Sep 1, 2024
Issue 3721

On the final evening of the CSGA Symposium we host a banquet to close the event and celebrate our time together.  During the banquet it is also a tradition that we hold an auction as a fundraiser for the club.  This year we are fortunate to have several donors who have generously gifted many stunning examples of glass.

We are especially touched that the estates of Greg Merkel and Mark Chamovitz have consigned some pieces from their collections to be auctioned off.  Not only are these absolutely gorgeous pieces of Steuben glass, but it is especially meaningful to know that they were treasured by some of our dear friends in the club.

You have to be there to be able to bid!  We’d love to have you join the Symposium.  The registration deadline is September 9th.  More details and a link to register can be found here.

Items from the Estate of Mark Chamovitz

Mark was a long-time member of the club and regularly attended the annual Steuben Symposiums.  He also served as a club Director and managed the annual auction for many years.  He was a friend of Max and Kitty Erlacher and commissioned several engraved pieces from Max.

Items from the Estate of Greg Merkel

The following items were generously donated by the estate of Greg Merkel.  Greg was our club “science guy” and through his expertise and love of glass he expanded our knowledge of several Carder Steuben colors and formulas.
