Carder, The Sculptor Period

Post 1932, Frederick Carder in his retirement (age 70-100), was relegated to a small office at the Corning Glass Works which he turned into a glass studio. This is long before Harvey Littleton was credited as a founder of the studio glass movement in the 1960s. This recent series in the Gazette features Carder’s outstanding creativity from the 1930s until the 1960s, as he worked in his studio. Most of this time period output is in storage, and this brilliant stage of his work is therefore not appreciated.

This note is a reminder of why the Gazette is featuring this series of Mr. Carder’s under appreciated outstanding artistic expression. It certainly deserves its own exhibition. Hint
