Club Treasurer Lon Knickerbocker of Dansville, NY expresses his point on continuing color discussions at the Club’s annual Symposium on Oct. 2-3, 2009 and subsequent Symposiums.
I have been following the discussion, etc. on the colors issue, and have quite enjoyed it. It is nice to have the enthusiasm of many members on a subject that can shed much light in the future. I have suggested on more than one occasion we somehow bring these type of discussions into the symposium. I feel a block of time set aside during future symposiums dedicated to “talking colors” with members showing different blues, greens or whatever would enhance the education of all members. I believe you would get much participation and these type of discussions or programs could be used in many forums, in addition to colors we could explore shapes, numbers, eras, styles and on and on. I hope this doesn’t have to continue to be a internet discussion only.

In response Symposium Chair, Scott Hansen, of Briarcliff Manor, NY responds:
We are bringing back the ID Clinic this year at the Symposium so if they have shapes. colors or types of glass they want to have “vetted” by a panel and the audience they can bring them to the Symposium. Seems like there is some interest in this subject.
But, Scott, you overlooked mentioning that at this year’s Symposium, Greg Merkel of Corning, NY and a color expert who works at Corning, NY is doing two sessions on Carder’s colors. So, plan on attending for more color discussion.
