On the subject of fakes, Marshall Ketchum has commentary of fleur de lis’
Alan
I have an observation about this article. Figure 10 at the bottom is supposed to be a representation of an authentic fleur-de-lis Steuben signature. I have never seen a signature like that on a genuine piece of Steuben. Notice that the tails of the ribbon in particular are much different and much longer than those shown in the Gardner book. It is the long tails such as these that we see on so many of the forged Steuben fleur-de-lis signatures. Perhaps it is this diagram or ones like it that have given the forger the model for their forgeries. There are other differences between this drawing and the ones shown in Gardner but the lengths of the ribbons are the easiest to describe.

HI – Thanks for all the responses about reproductions. and as before, although they might fool someone new to Steuben, no one in this club would be fooled by these, nor would either Early’s or James D Julia. I still get the “feeling” my vase is right. To me the new Cintras below look more to me like Libbey-Nash. If anyone is going the be in New York City next week for the Triple Pier Show I would be happy to bring it in for someone to see in person. – Tommy
