This morning I was embarrassed when I gave out the Carder Steuben Club website, but misnamed it. Fortunately Bob Weinberg of Huntington, New York promptly caught this glitch as I was about to go out the door, so I could correct it and hopefully avoided some frustration for users. Its correct name is www.cardersteubenclub.org Anyhow, I apologized and labeled it “Woops”. Myrna Wilson of Wayland, Massachusetts responded “Shouldn’t it be “Whoops?”‘ Well Myrna it’s a bit like Murphy’s law…once the mistakes start they just keep going. However, I think perhaps it should be “oops”. In any event, what matters is the Carder Steuben Club website is a great interactive web site that allows a lot of searching and research. In response to all of this the Club’s webmaster, Marshall Ketchum, gives this following report on the site’s contents and what can be found.

At the moment we have about 2500 photos of Carder Steuben posted in the Shape Gallery of the website. There are 292 photos with engraved or cut patterns and 233 photos of acid etched patterns. With the help of Vivienne Richards we have posted drawings for those shapes where we do not yet have photos. This amounts to about 4640 drawings.

Scott Hansen has been posting the Gazettes as they have been issued. I have gone back and posted all of the older Gazettes that are available. Gazettes back to #459 which was issued 02/07/09 have been posted as issued. Gazettes older than #459 were recovered from archives and were unnumbered. These older Gazettes have been numbered and posted but the numbering won’t be quite the same as they were originally. Older Gazettes that were on the same subject and were consecutive have often now been posted under a single number. The “search” function for the Gazettes should work as well either way. Currently the earliest Gazette is from mid September 2005.

For those of you who have the interest I have attached the website statistics that have been generated for the first four months that the website has been public. These were generated by Google Analytics which can tell you just about anything you would like to know about a website it is examining.

I would welcome question or comments about what we have done.

Marshall
