How Often Have You Seen?
(borrowed from an anonymous posting)
A seller with a long list of professional credentials who lists an art glass vase signed “LCT” (which stands for Louis Comfort Tiffany) with the keywords “Steuben” (a different company than Tiffany Studios) and “Favrile” (a Tiffany line, though this piece is not signed “Favrile”). Seller further places it in the Steuben category, rather than the Tiffany category. Seller’s description is a series of bullet points, reiterating the words in the title. Apparently he or she cannot write full sentences. Spelling “iridescent” as “irradecent” will really help out the buyers who are using that as a search term! Finally, the seller states that the item is “100% guaranteed authentic.” Authentic WHAT? Based on placement and key words in the title and description, he or she cannot make up his or her mind whether the piece is Steuben or Tiffany. What if I were to win it, and then return it for a refund because it is not Steuben? Grrrr! Don’t tempt me to do it, just to teach them a lesson!
