Glass Show

Do you love Steuben glass? Do you delight in talking about glass and your collection? Do you enjoy meeting people that share your interest in glass? Do you savor a good meal and interesting conversation? If you do, then you must attend the Carder Steuben Symposium’s Glass Show at the Radisson Hotel on Thursday evening, September 19. A number of new dealers in addition to some of our past dealers will participate this year, so plan on spending the evening shopping, talking, eating, drinking, and of course, buying wonderful glass!

It’s not too late to be added as a dealer. Contact David Goldstein at elvidant@aol.com

Remember – the registration deadline is September 9.

Two Cents Worth

I haven’t said much lately, but after reading the commentaries for the last several weeks, here is my two cents’ worth:

“I have been reading with interest the comments that our members have been making, and considering the various viewpoints. The question that occurs to me is, if the members eligible to vote ultimately vote to expand our mission, how would we network with collectors of what I will arbitrarily call (at my peril!) post-1933 Steuben to gauge their interest level, and willingness to pitch in and do the work necessary to create a second website, take leadership positions, and post articles, features, and questions, and so on? Clearly, we would need individuals who have the same passion for the later Steuben that we have for the Carder-era Steuben, and enough of them willing to take on such roles, in order to achieve such a vision.

Michael Krumme, Los Angeles”

Webmaster’s Corner

This is a 2743 rustic or stump vase in colorless glass. Most of these three prong vases we see are shape 2744 where the three prongs are arranged as a triangle on the foot. The 2743 has the three prongs arranged in a line.

2013 Carder Steuben Club annual Symposium will be held at The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY from September 19-21, 2013. The festivities will begin with Frederick Carder’s 150th birthday celebration on the evening of September 18, 2013.
