The overlay is actually Black Amethyst. We had the lamp which is in a good home.

Hi Alan,

As a point of curiosity, many of these larger vases were factory drilled and used as lamp bases.
I would like opinions as to how the hole in the item affects the value as many of them are taken apart.

ALVIN SILVER OVERLAY VASE
