“Lonesome Drum: An American Tale”

Corning Community College Theatre will bring to life Lonesome Drum: An American Tale, an original play by Theatre Instructor Mary Guzzy, about the history and prevailing spirit of New York State’s Southern Tier.
Lonesome Drum: An American Tale focuses on three historical Southern Tier figures, Jemima Wilkinson, John W. Jones, and Frederick Carder.
The play features faculty, students and staff of Corning Community College. The Science Amphitheatre is Wheelchair Accessible. ASL interpretation will be provided at the performance on Friday, May 2.

Spectacular Saturday @ The ARTS
The ARTS will host Spectacular Saturday @ The ARTS on Saturday, May 3 as part of the (Re)Discover Corning event.

The Gallery @ The ARTS, 32 West Market Street, Corning, will open at 10:00 AM on Saturday. Specific events include:
12:00 Noon – Presentation of a scene from Lonesome Drum: An American Tale by Mary Guzzy. The
play highlights the history and prevailing spirit of New York State’s Southern Tier. The scene presented at The ARTS will feature captain of art and industry Frederick Carder, founder of Steuben Glass. Corning Community College President Floyd “Bud” Amann portrays Carder. 1:00 – 3:00 PM – Opening reception in The Spotlight Gallery @ The ARTS for Greetings from Leisure Lane!, sculpture exhibit by artist Phil Kuster, of Horseheads, New York. 1:30 PM – Traditional music by Deb Chesman and Trish Engelhard, with special appearances by two young fiddlers: 9 year old Ruby Williams and 12 year old Autumn Rose Lester.
