Frosted Blue Diving Girl in Moonlight Iceberg Flower Block

Lead Glass

Mr. Carder had the rare skill of bringing his two-dimensional drawings to life in a three dimensional sculpture. This work shows his ability to create the smooth and shapely silhouette of a woman and contrast it with the sharp coldness of cut glass.

Technical Note: Lead Glass is glass that contains 20% or more of lead oxide which gives it a lower melting point allowing for easier cutting. This type of glass reflects a brilliant light, especially when angles and facets are cut and polished.
