Did You Notice Something New?
Something new?– A new layout that is. Our hosting service told us we had to have a new format to accommodate mobile devices’ displays. While we’ve had no complaints from cell phone and tablet users, we thought we’d better “get with it”. We’ll experiment and see how well this works and whether your editor can keep up with technology.
Hanging Fixtures from the David Chadwick-Brown Collection
The hanging fixture shows a #2771 shade. The green one I already commented on when it was unlighted.
The paintings here, and throughout my condo are by my grandfather, who was the scenic designer for the Wharton Studios, when they were in Ithaca, before decamping to Hollywood, where films could be produced year-round. (The silent movies, where a trolley, with Pearl White aboard, was about to fall into one of Ithaca’s gorges – come back for the next episode! – were the cliff-hangers that enticed the movie audience, right from the beginning of movies.) He chose to remain, as a professor of scenic design at Ithaca College. But for that decision to remain in New York, this now-California resident would not exist…
