List of Terms
Alan,
I’ve been working on an idea for a future Symposium presentation that would address a list of terms that were used by Carder, as well as other glass terms that are used to describe different techniques or decorations, and then show pictures of actual examples of or on the glass. For example, “prunt” is a term used to describe a small glob of glass fused to another piece of glass, primarily used for decoration. Carder used several types of prunts – raspberry (show example), flat round (show example), etc.
Other terms that might be of interest include: cast, frit, intaglio, marver, millefiori, pate de verre, reeding, threading, acid-etch, silveria, stretch glass, mold-blown.
I am working with CMOG staff on this, but I feel that we need to come up with this list of terms. So, I put this to the readers of the Gazelle Gazette – what terms would you like to see explained or shown examples of, so that you know it when you see it?
Many thanks for your assistance.
