Antique Show

Hi Alan,

I drove all the way up to Santa Barbara today to attend the annual C.A.L.M. charity benefit antique show. I had never been to it before.

There was some Carder Steuben glass there, but not a lot of it. The pieces I recall were a very tall bud vase, as well as a large covered powder jar, in the Rosaline/Alabaster color combination, as well as a few pieces of gold Aurene. The most interesting piece I saw was a large footed globe-shaped vase or bowl. The seller had it labeled “Steuben fish bowl,” but I did not inquire as to whether it was marked. The bowl portion appeared to be Topaz; the foot was perhaps Celeste Blue, thus the attribution was at least plausible. Whether it was [f] actually correct, I don’t know. I did not find a footed fish bowl shown in the shape index that resembled it, but the large spherical one was the closest to what I saw.
