CONSTRUCTION (of a perfume)

Oct 14, 2009
Issue 707

Previous discussions of Cardinal Red turned to whether a perfume with a red color was Carder Steuben or perhaps English made. Charles Sweigart of Reinholds, Pennsylvania has a question about a “red” perfume. However, it is not so much about color, but the construction of the piece. Construction has a great deal to do with identifying glass and is often ignored. Perhaps someone can answer Charles’ question.
Rehashing an old post about Cardinal Red,

After seeing another perfume exactly as the below picture, I was able to examine it first hand and took note that the picture below is very white in the area where the stopper rests. On the example handled the stopper base is clear as well as the inside ground neck which accepts the stopper and would photograph similarly. The base is ground as well. No marks are present. Would a Carder piece be cased as well? thanks
