Journey Through The World of Glass Colors

Friday’s second presenter at the Symposium was Dr. Harrie J. Stevens, Professor Emeritus, Alfred University. The presentation looked at glass colors, with explanations of how they are created.

Beth Shaut of Corning, NY says, “Dr. Stevens was a little technical but overall explained a lot about the blend of material to obtain certain colors or looks. Really interesting.”

Hi all! Yesterday Mom and I enjoyed ‘walking’ through these pictures of some stores on Market Street in Corning, NY that specialize in antique and vintage Carder era Steuben glass. It’s one thing to see this all in the Carder Gallery at the Corning Museum of Glass. Here it is offered with price tags! Another reason to make a pilgrimage back to Corning at least once if you haven’t been already. Lisa Ackerman, Orange, CA

Melanie Hildreth and I attended the Fostoria convention in Moundsville, WV in June. We found little or no glass in the antique shops in the area. It is really nice to see all of the Steuben glass in these shops.(Corning) It certainly was disappointing that the glass was not to be found in WV.
