MEMORIAL WINDOW TO BE REFURBISHED AND REINSTALLED WITH ASSISTANCE OF CARDER STEUBEN CLUB
At page 100 of the Dimitroff book on Carder’s works, the Memorial Window created by Mr. Carder is discussed. “The window includes a Bristol Yellow cast glass panel, medallions, and a border of variegated glass tiles The names of the 30 Corning residents killed in the war appear in the center of the window. … Architect Palmer Rogers wrote, ‘I do not recall ever seeing or hearing of a memorial window in this particular medium and it will no doubt excite a great deal of interest and comment from artists and architects. I only wish that you might have the opportunity of exhibiting this work… I do not wish to seem sentimental but I believe that the work you are doing expresses the true spiritual significance of the sacrifices made during the War better than any work that has been done heretofore'”
