I want to get my plug in for the Brilliant Weekend that is coming up next weekend at CMOG. This is a great event, and there are always pieces of Steuben to be had. If you are anywhere near the museum, this show is a must!

Brilliant Weekend Affair 2014

The Eastern Lakes and Mid-Atlantic chapters of the American Cut Glass Association (ACGA) are once again presenting the Brilliant Weekend Affair, a unique glass show and sale featuring cut and engraved glass.
This event is free with Museum admission or $5 at the Auditorium door.
Saturday evening of the Brilliant Weekend Affair, there will be a dinner at the Radisson Hotel for a cost of $38 with advance reservations and choice of entrée.

American Brilliant Glass Show
Preeminent glass dealers from across the United States will exhibit and sell American Brilliant Period cut and engraved glass, as well as specially selected examples of Steuben, art glass, and English and European art and engraved glass. Original catalog reprints and research materials concerning American cut and engraved glass will be available for sale. There will be a special setting where replacement stoppers can be bought or traded.
A T.G. Hawkes descendant is bringing private photo memorabilia to place on view. An impersonator of Mr. Thomas Hawkes, in period garb, will attend the show Saturday afternoon and converse with show attendees.
A noted engraver in the Lawrenceville, PA, area, will be displaying his collection of old cutting tools from the Stage-Kashins Cut Glass Company. Also on display in the showroom will be samples of engraved stems produced by Stage-Kashins. This collection of more than 25 engraved stems, is the only collection of Stage-Kashins in existence. The intricate engravings on the samples were executed by Joseph Libisch, noted Steuben engraver.

Library Workshop
On Friday, April 4, at 2pm, the Rakow Research Library will host a workshop to help orient enthusiasts on its many glass-related resources.

At the Museum
Also included in Museum admission is the opportunity to explore the world’s largest collection of art and historical glass. Don’t miss the live, narrated Hot Glass Shows, or the Flameworking, Glassbreaking and Optical Fiber Demos in the Innovation Center. The Museum is also home to a state-of-the-art glassmaking school, where visitors can enjoy Make Your Own Glass experiences for an additional fee.
