Let’s Start with the bottom shelf of David Chadwick-Brown’s secretary

There is a 5002, dark blue ACB bowl, and one can see how the white ground reduces the intensity of the dark blue jade, when viewed adjacent to the dark blue jade grotesque.

There is a kneeling girl plaque, with sprue. Word has it that six of them appeared together in Corning a few years ago, and all were unground. If their use was as a shade, for these are listed among the shades in Gardner, I’m not sure how much light would shine through.

Architectural Piece

There are two cire perdue pieces, one of which is catalogued as shape ‘0’ on the website. The other, of a putto, may have been a practice run (though signed and dated by Carder, so a finished piece) for application to other pieces as handles – see Gardner, p.356, where putti serve as decorative handles. A number of years after purchase of the two horses, I happened upon the picture of Mr. Carder, page 53 in Gardner, and there was my piece in his bookcase!

The Florentia is a 6784, in cinnamon or coral.
