BONNIE SALZMAN OF RICHMOND, VA. PRESENTS AT THE IPBA

Frederick Carder worked for Stevens & Williams, the famous English glass manufacturer, for 23 years before coming to the United States . As a founder and driving force behind Steuben Glass Works, Carder unleashed his considerable and artistic talents in glass on the world for more than 30 years. Many of these items were created specifically for the modern woman.

A presentation entitled The Steuben Perfumes of Frederick Carder will be given at the International Perfume Bottle Association’s annual convention, April 29 – May 2 in Reston , Virginia . The talk will commence with perfume bottles and line drawings of Carder’s years at Stevens & Williams and continue through the production years at Steuben Glass Works. Hundreds of perfume bottles, colognes, powder and puff boxes, dresser sets and other vanity bottles and cosmetic jars were produced at Steuben. The seminar will focus on the types of glass, color, shape, glass-making techniques and influences on design. Pictures of over 80 bottles, rare pastel drawings and line drawings from Carder’s files will be shown.

This presentation is open to IPBA members only. If you are interested in attending this convention or would like to become a member, please visit the IPBA website:
