Blue Glass Discussion

June Riccio has sent along a picture of some blues. They are:
Not to dwell too long on the subject, but here are my examples, along with a jade blue I have not seen before, but presume it is based on Celeste or Persian/Peacock.
The Jade piece I would refer to as “Peacock Blue”, Persian Blue Vase w/threading, Celeste Blue,French Blue, and Marina Blue.

Here is a good comparison of the four blues from J. Goldstein of Chicago.
One is Celeste and Persian. The other is (clockwise from bottom left) aquamarine, Celeste, Persian and French.

Some may be finding the continuation of e-mails on blue tiresome. However, for
those interested this has been quite a learning experience. Earlier today you
received a picture clearly delineating four blues. However, I’ve received e-mails
from Marshall Ketchum and Scott Hansen which disclose one of the identified
blues is misidentified and yet another shade of blue. One of the pieces was
identified as “aquamarine”. The color is almost certainly Marina Blue. Steuben’s
Aqua Marine is much different in that it has a Verre de Soie finish on a greenish
glass.

Some may be having continuity problems. That is you receive an e-mail referring
to an earlier e-mail, and yet you haven’t received the other. In other words,
while most on this list receive all the e-mails, for unknown reasons some e-mails
don’t get through the spam filters or whatever. That’s the internet and all its
issue. If you think you’re missing a prior e-mail let me know and I’ll try and
send it again.
