Blue Aurene Vase Cut to Yellow Jade in variant of Azalea Pattern

Iridized Cased Double Acid-Etched Lead Glass

(see attachment)

This vase uses both of Carder’s signature Aurenes. The blue showcases the Azalea pattern etched away from the body of the vase while Gold Aurene accents the neck and rim.

Technical Note: The material Aurene is created by applying a chloride formula to the piece and reheating the glass under specific conditions to produce an iridescent finish. This formula was developed by Frederick Carder in 1904.
