Time—yes, it’s time. Don’t delay. Either renew or join the Carder Steuben Club today. http://cardersteubenclub.org/membership/membership-form.cfm

What do you get for $35, besides supporting Carder Steuben glass collecting? Well, yes you support not only this Gazette newsletter, but the incredible website resource tool with its thousands of documented shapes and almost 5,000 images of Carder Glass. You’ll not only support these things, but you’ll get a CD capturing the Rockwell collection at the Reifschlager Gallery. just before it was dissembled and moved to CMoG. A great memory and a stunning display of Carder’s creativity. You’ll also get a co-membership in the Corning Museum of Glass. If that’s not enough of a deal for you, I don’t know what is. Click the link above and you can fill out the form for membership, click to pay with PayPal and you’ve done something meaningful today. Also, consider a gift of membership as well.

Marshall Ketchum passes along a word of warning as to identification

Alan

Most of your readers will probably realize that museums do not always attribute their pieces correctly. The blue olive dish at the Wichita Museum may not be Steuben production or may be a whimsey. I know of no records that would indicate that it was made in colors. It was produced too late (1939) for it to have been a carry over from the Carder era.

I seem to have a recollection that there is a museum in Texas with a major Carder collection. Perhaps someone can help with this. In the meantime Scott Hansen commented on the Stark Museum of Art

As for Texas, you may be thinking of the Stark Museum of Art. They have a complete collection (the only one) of the Modern Steuben covered vases entitled The United States in Crystal – all 50 vases.
