Alan Shovers collects Carder Steuben at their home in Evansville, IN–Susan Shovers collects French glass maker, Charles Schneider, for their second home in Coronado, CA.

In the 1920’s American glassmaker Frederick Carder was the master of art deco, acid etching and color. At the same time in France, Charles Schneider under the brand names of “Schneider France”, “Le Verre Francais” and “Charder” was the master of the same. The Shovers’ compared and contrasted these qualities of each glass master. In our limited Gazette space we’ll only show a few examples of Schneider’s creations, and not compare and contrast, except in the first slide.
