Then, in Gazette #543 Wilson Craigie had a question about an early piece of crystal. Ed Bush of Painted Post, NY writes in response:
Alan,
Responding to Wilson Craigie’s question, I wish to report that a Carder Steuben bowl with green machine threading and the same engraved design as on Mr. Craigie’s vase is illustrated on page 32 of Gardner’s book. The caption states that “Carder said this was the first engraved piece made at Steuben, about 1904.”
A similar bowl or vase with the same threading and engraved design is located in the first room of the Carder Steuben Gallery at CMoG, as I recall. Ed Bush
