Tulip Candleholder with Celeste Blue Flowers and Leaf Base Dark Topaz Twisted Thorny Stem
Colored Crystal
Again Frederick Carder called on his love of nature to create a functional candleholder in the shape of a blue tulip with a twisted thorny stem and floral leaf formed foot. The texture, or applied decoration, created on this candlestick was formed “at the fire”.
Technical Note: The term “at the fire” was used to describe a technique where the glass blower would manipulate the glass while it is still in a workable or molten state.
