Gwen Stebbins of Lilaby Creek Antiques of Davison, Michigan
passes along her observations of improving marketplace.
On positive note, I just attended the Southfield Antique Show (Detroit) and most of the high end dealers I spoke with were having good shows. Another thing I noticed is it was Sunday afternoon and there was a decent crowd and many of the people in the crowd had bags or dealers were carrying out items for them. For the first time in a long time, the show had a good vibe. I watched one dealer carry out an item for a customer with a tag of $22,500.00 on it! I am not kidding myself into believing that show dealers are having it great right now but I do hear less complaining and see more smiles.
