A couple of weeks ago, I was thinking, “I really need to get some more information about the symposium event so that I can decide whether to attend.” The very next morning, I awoke to a message with a plethora of information and tips and resources. Thank you very much for providing that. I was also really touched that there was a discounted registration for first-time attendees! That really made me feel welcomed.
I have to admit, I have really enjoyed being a member of the CSC, and have already learned a lot. I am seriously thinking of attending the symposium.
What I’d like to hear from members is their comments and observations about attending this event in past years. I don’t know how many years this has been held, how many people typically attend, who has spoken in the past and on what topics, etc. I’d really like to read about what other members get out of it and what they felt was the best part of it. Also any tips or suggestions that they could make for a first-time attendee.
I have been a glass collector since 1976, when I was 14. I started out collecting Depression glass, then turned to “elegant” American glassware of that era, which I focused on for many years. My newest interest is American art glass, particularly Carder-era Steuben and Sinclaire glass — especially black glass, which I have collected for years, so the latest posts have been of GREAT interest to me.
Sorry for such a long message; feel free to post all or whatever parts of it you deem relevant, but I would be eager to hear from others why they make a point of attending and what I might expect.
