MODERN STEUBEN
It’s been a while since we talked about adding Modern Steuben to the Club’s mission, but it has not been forgotten. The annual membership meeting, which will take place during the Symposium, will include a vote on amending the Club’s Certificate of Incorporation to include Modern Steuben.
This is a legal step that which must to be taken if we are to add Modern Steuben to our Mission, and will require approval by a majority of the members voting at the Annual Meeting. The text s of the Current and Proposed Mission Statements are set forth below:
The Current Mission Statement:
The Mission of the Carder Steuben Club is to encourage and promote the collecting and enjoyment of the glass of Frederick Carder.
The Proposed Mission Statement:
The Mission of the Carder Steuben Club is to encourage and promote the collecting and enjoyment of the glass produced by Steuben Glass Works, which became a division of Corning, Inc. This includes both Carder Period from 1903-1933, when Frederick Carder managed the company, and Modern Steuben produced after management and direction changed in 1933.
Whether or not we proceed with this change will be decided by our members in September.
David Goldstein
President
