Glass Damage in Shipping
Alan. In response to Michael Krumme’s question on glass damage in shipping, I have a story. I purchased a paperweight perfume from a major auction house a little over a year ago. I asked them to get in touch with me before shipping, which they did not do. I received the perfume ups ground. They had packed the piece in a single box wrapped only in a small amount of bubble wrap and did not remove the top. During shipping, the top pierced the bubble wrap, and the exterior of the box, and damaged the top. They did refund my money promptly, but of course I really wanted the piece. They resold the piece at an auction at a later date with a different top. I have attached a picture of the piece, the top, and the box where the top penetrated the exterior of the box.
Thanks again Alan for all your hard work….
